RAE Systems: AreaRAE
The AreaRAE is a one-to-five sensor toxic gas and gamma radiation monitor with an open wireless architecture which allows the unit to communicate and transmit readings on a real-time basis with a remotely located base controller located up to 2 miles away. In stand alone operation, the AreaRAE is a rugged, weather-resistant, portable monitor that can run over 24-hours on either rechargeable Lithium-ion or alkaline batteries. Former FEMA director James Lee Witt and former Department of Homeland Security deputy secretary Admiral James M. Loy (USCG Ret.) announced the formation of a national coalition to help American families be better prepared and protected from the ravages of natural catastrophes and their economic consequences.



4. Chicago: Preparing for Disaster
How 9/11 and natural disasters have impacted emergency response in one of the largest cities in the country.



5. Congress Urged to Compel TSA to Release Pre-9/11 Documents Kept from Families
Charging that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) wrongfully denied them access to documents once in the public domain, the 9/11 Families United to Bankrupt Terrorism is calling on Congress to force TSA to change its practices on classifying materials as “sensitive security information.” (SSI).



6. ‘Survivors’ Club’ Salutes 3,000th Law Enforcement Officer Saved by a Protective Vest
The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP)/DuPont Kevlar Survivors’ Club - an organization dedicated to reducing death and disability among police officers by encouraging the use of personal body armor - inducted Atlanta Police Officer Corey B. Grogan as the group’s 3,000th member.
